About the University

The University of Roehampton was built from four colleges founded in the 19th century — Whitelands College (1841), Southlands College (1872), Digby Stuart College (1874), and Froebel College (1892) — which entered an academic federation as the Roehampton Institute of Higher Education in 1975. After a period partnered with the University of Surrey, Roehampton became an independent university in 2004, taking its current name in 2011.

The main campus is set in parkland in Roehampton, South West London, giving the university a genuinely green, campus-style setting within the wider city.
