City St George’s, University of London was formed in 2024, through the merger of City, University of London and St George’s, University of London. City traces its own history to 1894 as the Northampton Institute, becoming a university by royal charter in 1966; St George’s traces to St George’s Hospital Medical School, established in 1834. Both are member institutions of the wider University of London.

Location

The university’s St George’s site is in Tooting, south-west London, co-located with St George’s Hospital, a major teaching hospital, while City’s heritage sites are based more centrally in London. The merger brings together a central London institution with a south-west London medical campus.
