About the University

London Metropolitan University was formed in 2002, through the merger of the University of North London and London Guildhall University. Its history traces back further still: London Guildhall University itself had been created in 1992 when the City of London Polytechnic gained university status, while the Northern Polytechnic — an ancestor of the University of North London — opened in Holloway in 1896.

Location

The university is based in the City of London and the London Borough of Islington, with its City campus occupying the former London Guildhall University premises across several sites in the City of London.
