Goldsmiths, University of London was founded in 1891 as the Goldsmiths’ Technical and Recreative Institute, established by the Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths in New Cross, London. It was acquired by the University of London in 1904 and renamed Goldsmiths’ College, and has since developed a particular focus on the arts, design, computing, humanities, and social sciences.
