About the University
Brunel University London is named after the Victorian engineer Isambard Kingdom Brunel. It became a university in 1966, when Brunel College of Advanced Technology was awarded a royal charter, and later developed one of the largest engineering teaching campuses in Europe following the Robbins Report’s recommendations. In 2024, Brunel became a member institution of the University of London.
