About the University

The University of Leeds was established in 1874 as the Yorkshire College of Science, later merging with the Leeds School of Medicine and becoming part of the federal Victoria University alongside what became the universities of Manchester and Liverpool. It received its own royal charter in 1904. It is a member of the Russell Group of research-intensive universities.

Location

The university occupies a large campus just north of Leeds city centre, in West Yorkshire.
