About the University
The University of Dundee was founded as a university college in 1881 with support from the Baxter family of textile manufacturers. It operated for most of its early history as a constituent college of the University of St Andrews, before gaining independent university status by royal charter in 1967.

The university’s main campus is in Dundee’s West End, with a further Ninewells Hospital and Medical School campus elsewhere in the city.
