About the University
Teesside University traces its origins to a Mechanics’ Institute established in Middlesbrough in 1844, and more directly to Constantine Technical College, which opened in 1930 with support from a donation by shipping magnate Joseph Constantine. It became a polytechnic in 1969 and gained university status in 1992.

The main campus is in Middlesbrough town centre, with further sites in Darlington and London.
