About the University
Solent University traces its origins to a private School of Art founded in Southampton in 1856, alongside the School of Navigation, Warsash, established in 1932. Through a series of mergers, it became Southampton Institute of Higher Education and gained university status in 2005.

The main campus is on East Park Terrace, close to Southampton city centre and the maritime docks.
