About the University
Cardiff University was established in 1883 as the University College of South Wales and Monmouthshire, and became a founding college of the federal University of Wales in 1893. It became an independent, degree-awarding university under the name Cardiff University in 2005, and is the only Welsh member of the Russell Group.
Location
The university’s campus is based mainly in the Cathays area of Cardiff, close to the city centre.
